Default Sports Portfolio for SS Review

I am still working on it. The SS Portfolio review demands a few things that my current editor doesnt...so I have to step back and re-caption a few.

Ill post when its updated though, but feel free to tell me what you think.

http://www.blinking8s.com/ss/review/

All the photos chosen were pictures that made the cut during prepress for school news or future publications. So I figured I would start there. Now just to go back and grab a few more good ones to choose from.

Should I put a few car photos in there too?

or how about...

all from the last shoot, but they got posted on quite a few car forums...I was rather suprised

most of my basketball pictures can be found here

if you feel like taking the time to browse through and mentioned a good shot i skipped, feel free

other than that...i need 10 of my best...

Some neat pictures, and I don't know what the SS reviewers will look for, but I think you should add some more diverse shots than just (what appears to be) two basketball games. The pictures that you have chosen are good though.

I do have a question, how did you do the pics of the Z?

Z pic on your site

I really like that shot, how does one set that up?

Edited: Also, I don't really care for crowd-shots and I don't think that they add to the sports-feel of the portfolio.

well, its 5 bball games used in there, and since I shoot for the University its hard to get away from the same white Uniforms...Ive shot around 9 basketball games now...with each one the exposure and avg photo quality seem to get better and better...

think about the Z photo though...its not all that hard to figure out when you know enough about what a camera can and cannot do

thanks for the feedback...still trying to get a broader selection up, so far im taking 5 of those out and adding a few to look through soon...

They're all good enough for submission, but perhaps pop in some other sports shots if you can.

C'mon spill the beans....i'd love to know how these were done....is it mainly PS?

As for the SS gallery although they are all cracking shots i would try to get some variety if you can as SS will certainly be looking for more than just basketball.

not spillin the beans...its common sense if you know your camera plus its fun to watch people figure out

working on digging up a few non-basketball shots now...I have flag-football, softball and automotive to get through, not many in each so its gonna be tough

is it a suction cup rig on the car while it goes round in a circle in a parking lot on a really long exposure with a highway in the back ground?

ding ding ding...winner

only 90% turns though, and not really all that long of an exposure

The exposure of the shot is obvious, but I didn't know that they made (or trusted) suction cup rigs. I assumed that it was some sort of attachment to the car, but suction cups?

every major photography shop online has them...i dont see why its such a suprise to people...and if you search "car camera mounts" in google (common sense) then you get a very general idea...

the issue is, a good rig is NOT cheap...ive gone from directly on the car to about 4ft off now...when I have some cashflow I will invest in some carbon fiber or something and keep getting further and further away...

but back on topic you can research if you want to learn more about the wonders of automotive photography

I said it before and I'm gonna say again, DO include your Z photo, it's very impressive work!

Also regarding basketball shots, leave out the ones where you can't see the face(there is one), leave out the ones where the shots were easy to capture(compare to the rest), just so to show them that you've come a long way and tried hard enough to get them shots.

I don't see why they would say no to you, good luck!
