Recently I've had a kick for being creative with editing of my pictures. Here's one I kinda liked. Let me know what you think.
Edit: Here's another picture, processed similarly. Let me know your thoughts on this one too. Sorry, deleted pictures Last edited by DrFil : 29th of February 2012 (Wed) at 01:54. |

I like it but i think the vignetting takes away from the pic a bit, id like to see it with much less of it!! otherwise i like the idea and you executed it well!!

You know, I don't think I could re-do what I've done, but I played a lot with shadows/highlights, contrast, sharpening, and playing with different layers doing some blurring and other stuff. But if you search for stuff like faux hdr or something like that you should come up with ways to do the same thing and probably easier. I wish I saved the tiff or psd. D'oh! The processing on the second picture is worse than the first, but some pictures are just better for certain types of processing. Oh well.
Thanks, I was trying to get an interesting composition and something that looked like me jumping off the mountain...but it's pretty hard to do with a wireless remote shutter. I think I may like the original more. Here it is: Sorry, deleted picture Last edited by DrFil : 29th of February 2012 (Wed) at 01:54. |

The first is amazing. Would've been even better if the dude wasn't in it.

I don't agree, if he wasn't in it then it would feel empty on the left. From what I can see it look like you kicked up the fill light, blacks, clarity, and contrast through a few different layers.
I like the first one, but not so sold on the 2nd. |

My opinion on this kind of thing and kind of why I do it to some of my photos... Without something more interesting to view on both of the photos, in this case a change in the lighting/exposure, the photos would just be drab snap-shots. However, when you go crazy a little, it makes normal photos more enjoyable to look at. I did it with a lot of my travel photos that were the run of the mill snaps.

I agree with jbergdoll. The dude kinda takes away from the landscape. Also, typically snap shots don't include rule of third's
Overall, awesome pictures. |

my thinking was that my friend in the picture adds to the composition. i think it's cool that he's looking towards the nice view with the crepuscular rays and trying to take a picture of it. i mean, i have very similar pictures from this spot but without him, but i chose this one on purpose since i thought it was more interesting. guess it depends on your taste. thanks for the comments, guys.
