Default SVT Contour - fun until the trans. cracks

My parents sold their Detroit area house. Three days before closing, my dad's SVT Contour shifter had a problem. I ended up cracking the case due to a major design issue on the MTX-75. The best part, my dad was program manager at Ford on the car and he was left stranded by his own car. I had to pick it up since the repairs took more than three days. The night I went to drive it to them...disaster.

So, I took a few pics of my time with it, including my daughter and I waiting for the flatbed.

1) Some fun on the day I picked up the car after the shifter repair.

2) Oops. Part of a bolt for the shifter link on the trans. rolls around the diff ring gear, case is cracked with a terrible sound at WOT in second gear.

3) Three year olds love to drive grandpa's car.

Agreed... nice series.... like #7... ouch about the tranny though...

BTW.. have you ever seen the MRT Turbocharged Fusion? LOL!

And actually i guess there were a few surprised engineers at Ford when they found out the automatic in my 2005 V6 Stang was holding up to the 125HP shot... woohoo! LOL

Thanks.

I have heard of turbos for the Fusion; a super for my I-4 could be fun. My Fusion lease will be gone on 12/1/08. Flex Limited! And a used SVT Contour if I can find it to replace my Grand Caravan lease due on 3/16.

Is the 5R55 trans. for the V-6 applications a lower torque-able version? I know that have a bunch of 6Fs coming out.

Oh yeah, at 13k miles, we found out Hector or Miguel down at Hermosillo dropped a bonus dowel pin in my Fusion bell housing; after it bounced around and put a few thousand nicks in the Al, it blew two holes into the trans case. Thought my engine was leaking, the Mazda 5M trans uses gear oil, not ATF. In the winter, it's hard to tell viscosity.

yeah, the V6 version 5R55 is supposedly not as robust as the V8 version... smaller input shaft, clutch pack not as beefy, etc.

Got 2 more years on the H3... then we'll see what the new Stangs look like...
