Default Parachute 2005 - Friday Picks

Most of Friday was spent sorting out my team, passes and talking to stage managers ets, but I managed to get some shooting done, this was my 20D's first time out at this sort of thing, holding together nicely!

Last night was also a chance to fine tune technique etc on the 20D with the conditions. My hit ratio (useable vs non useable shots) is well over 90% this time!

Enjoy!

Crowd shot in the Palladium - 18-55- 18mm - 1/6s - f/3.5 - AP

The Lads - 50/1.8 - 50mm - 1/1600s - f/1.8 - AP

The Lads - 18-55- 25mm - 1/80s - f/4.0 - AP

Julia Grace - 75-300IS - 185mm - 1/8000s - f/5.0 - AP

Shawn McDonald - 50/1.8- 50mm - 1/500s - f/1.8 - AP

Nice picks dude, but are you sure the shutter speeds are correct?

Yep checked the EXIF's, they are correct, their are some really powerful stage lights and with the fast f/1.8 lens and ISO1600, I am getting fast shutter speeds. I can't really use a lower speed at nights, as the lights are not always that bright, and things can happen quickly.

Got a whole heap more tonight, will post some tomorrow when my NeatImage batch finishes (ah the cost of high ISO!)

Great shots!

Suppose that 20D is a lot more fun in these situations, than your G3.
Very fast shutter speeds as well. Guess that ISO 1600 helps a lot.

Very nice concert photos. And a good percentage on your "Hit Ratio" as well.
I suspect that most of the credit for this still goes to the photographer though.

Yep, heaps better than the G3 I used last year, 1600 is essential, even with the 'Nifty Fifty' (which was my most used lens).

Yes I like to think there was some skill involved!

Still working on going through the rest of the shots, I need to submit the best work first, then I'll post some more, got some shots heaps better than those I have already posted - stay tunned...
