Can someone please tell me how this picture could be, in any way, improved? The main thing I tried to focus on in this photo was the cropping.
Here is the post-processed version: ![]() And here is the original: ![]() Any critique whatsoever would be greatly appreciated. This photo wasn't planned or anything; I was just snapping some photos and wanted to experiment with post-processing. I know some photos are so bland that even extensive post-processing won't bring them to life. I'm not hoping to turn this photo into anything amazing; I'm just wondering if there are any ways to make it look better than it is. Does it appear too underexposed, is there a way to get rid of the graininess, should I change the hues, should I change the cropping, what would have made this photo potentially better to begin with, etc? Thank you so much for looking! |

I don't like the composition because there's nothing in the background that is a focal point. The flowers should be what I'm looking at, but they're black. A better silhouette would be a flower with a fantastic sunset including cloud patterns. The second one isn't focused at all.

The backgrounds in both images blend in with the subject, making it difficult to discern. You've got to get rid of those black portions of the background and make it as simple as you can.

It's a lot easier to make a good photograph into a great photograph with cropping and PP, but that's rarely true for a crappy capture.
Not saying that your capture are, just saying it to keep it in the back of your mind. |
