Default EOS 50D vs D300

I figured this topic will come up a million times within the next 3 months or so... LOL... So I wanted to be the first to bring it up and stoke some converstation... I think comparing these two cameras is pretty interesting now... Canon has the advantage in resolution and ISO range... and if what they're saying is true with the newly incorporated gapless micro lenses, probably competitive if not superior noise-to-detail with the D300 (again, THAT is to be seen), and I think it has superior 14-bit RAW fps vs. the Nikon... Should be interesting to see how they duke it out now... The Nikon does still have the 51 point AF, but Canon can counter as even the 40D's is faster and more sensitive and the 50D's should be better than the 40Ds.....

Should be interesting to see how Nikon responds!

Let's all compare a camera which does not yet exist, with the camera which does exist (n terms of availability to the consumer)....
...for subjective handling,
... IQ and freedom from noise at high ISO,
...sound levels while in use,
...and other features that require comparative subjective characteristics!

will Canon ever institute the built-in wireless 'commander' mode into their bodies? i'd like that, actually.

If you need 51 focus points to get a shot in focus, you should probably pick another profession or hobby

I just want to be able to pick from 51 points

So when do we get the Mark4 vs D3 threads? It's about time we've got some fresh threads in here aside from "I just upgraded from a P&S to a 40D and my 40D is broken/sucks/is soft".

I'm surprised that after the 30D, they didn't release the 36DD Vegas Edition.

Don't know how you can say that without even using a 50D yet... Compared to a 40D it may have more AF points, but they're slower and less sensitive to the Canon 40D AF system which balances the two systems.
