Default Cirque du Soleil: Kooza

I got complimentary tickets to see Cirque du Soleil: Kooza while it's in Boston. I'm very excited. Any photography advice for the night?

Perhaps it was a result of anxiety.

Ive been 4 times & about to go a 5th. The only advice i can give is that if you are seen with a camera then expect to loose it. Thats been my experience & i actually saw it happen to an american girl (i couldnt miss her accent during the massive argument with security physically removing the camera from her hands) in the seat in front of me at the last one i went to.

They are very careful with copyright and whilst they clearly lecture you at the start of the show that no photography is allowed due to the flash being a danger to the performers up in the air....it also applies to non flash. I know that does not make sense but thats been how it has been at the 4 shows ive been to.

Yes, leave your camera home. Last Cirque act i saw (Ka' , simply brilliant) did not allow any cameras at all. Simple fact, many idiots use flash, and when doing acrobatics, a flash can cause injuries or even death. For that reason alone, though they give others, no cameras are allowed.

Darn. Good to know. That's disappointing. These are tickets to a special showing before it starts officially, too.

I would love to take my 135 f2 in but its sometimes also nice to just sit back & enjoy something without a camera stuck to my face. Fantastic show.. a real trip. Im yet to see Kooza

I've been to a couple of different Cirque shows and will echo what everyone else is saying here. It is certainly nice to leave the camera at home and just enjoy a show. It just doesn't seen like a good risk to try and sneak in your camera but there are many that do it.

I don't blame professional entertainers limiting photography (still and video) when they put on their shows. They are there to entertain us and not provide photo ops (imo).

One of the recent shows that I went to they were inspecting all hand bags via x-ray and visual. If they found contraband (cameras, liquor, etc.) they gave you the option of taking your bag back to the car or having it left with security and getting it back after the show. They didn't offer any sort of claim check and one couple that had a camera put up quite a fuss as they had taken public transit to the arena and wouldn't leave their bag with security and couldn't take it anywhere to secure it. Last I saw they were not going to attend.
