Does anyone have any recent shots?

I'm also looking to buy a 300mm f/2.8 for a good price. Is anyone selling one?

Can I ask a few questions to non-IS owners...

1 - Is it fully weather sealed with a 1 series?
2 - How does it perform with a 2x TC?
3 - Where am I able to find one in the UK & is there a going rate?

Mine is more than 18 years old, so I don't think it's still sealed ....So I am careful ..
It's quite hard to find, I bought mine 1800€ .. I really wanted it .. but no idea, what's the price actually.

I suppose TC2X was created for 300L2.8  you get really good results ..

a few samples ..

 Here are two samples of my test in the dog show ... but this time, results were a bit disappointing compared with my 85L1.2II .. I would say F2.8 is definitely too slow for indoor use. at least with a decent speed (1/640 or 1/800)

I shouldn't have use the TC2X ... it would have been probably more interesting without.

Nice shots. Great noise control at ISO 4000. Very impressive.

Anyone trying to get rid of their 300???

Unfortunately, noise control is not that good, these were the best I could get with quite heavy post-processing :(. and really results are far from what I get in the same session with the 85L1.2II.
I won't recommend to use any F2.8 for action indoor use. I wanted to give a chance to a 70-200L2.8II, but least, I got my answer with that session, a zoom is really not versatile enough, it can be use only daytime and not give any sharp indoor action pictures.

So I am wondering whether I will switch to a 200L1.8 or 200L2.0II  ... 50% of my uses are in low light conditions (Indoor, early morning, late evening, winter)
Basically; max iso should be around 2000/2500 and speed between 1/500 to 1/4000... over this, I feel too frustrated with results.

I just read all 3 pages of your other post. Everyone seems to be right on track with the 200 f/2. But one thing that I didn't see anyone mention was going with a crop body. On your 5d mk II, 200 is a true 200. However, if you were to use a 1d mkIV you are at 260mm with f/2, just shy of your 5d with the 300 and almost a full stop faster.

If you were to use the 7d and the 200 f/2, you are at 320mm at f/2 compared to your 5d mk II. It's only a thought. And those crop bodies could do you very well when shooting sports.

Also, if I ever get the chance to invest in a 300mm lens, I would be shooting a lot of night football and baseball games. Have you or has anyone else had any experience shooting at night with the 300mm f/2.8 non IS? I would only be able to go up to ISO 1250, maybe 1600, but have a lot of issues with noise because of my 1d mk II.
