Hi everyone
Thanks for the nice comments! Replies to the two Ians - iwatkins, Yes I will at the Wyedean next weekend - I hope the weathers a bit better Ian_H, the 300 F4 is my favorite lens (of the ones I own), it is just so very sharp and it looks the part. I now own three L lenses a 20-35 2.8L, a 100-300 5.6L and the 300 F4L, all but one was bought second hand. For anyone who may be reading this and thinking about buying a new lens, I know they are not the cheapest but I can't recommend the L lenses enough |

I'm tempted with the 300mm f4 for circuit work mainly not the rallying, oh and it looks like I will be going down for the Wydean also

Spud welcome to the forum
only live 30 mile from cheltenham nice to see some more rally shots up on here well done, i enjoy my rallies and will be at wyedean stages on the 12th.few of my shots up on here allready. Ian think worcester about 35 mins from here. do you get to wyedean stages events? if so do you know andy burton from your area his car must be one of the fastest in these rallys,a mate services for him.see pic below Hey cadwell you dont need a passport just a small fortune ( £4.80) to get across the severn bridge, if on the M4. As mentioned above the Wyedean stages is also a good rally based at chepstow racecourse and then thoughout the forest of dean etc five minutes to nearest stage for me. done pembrey events before ,race meets with lotus cortinas even got invited to park my LC MK1 with the race cars once, owned my 66 mk 1 since 72 so its a prefference toward the classic for me. I have driven various circuits including silverstone doing parade laps etc. events like Coys historic festival etc with acess to the pits etc and the photos around all that great machinery. I love goodwood revival your local i guess. spent a lot of time in the main paddoc & around circuit just magic. Cheers all Martin Couple from a previous wyedean rally with 35mm and 200mm 2.8L |

Martin,
Yeah, I know Andy. Friends of mine (who are in the race/rally/road car trade) know him very well. The Cossie Pug "thing" he drives is awesome to see on stage, always a sight to behold. I love the Wyedean, easy parking (depending on stages you attend) and a nice walk through the forest to the sound of old school anti-lag and even older school Mk2 Escorts howling away. It is such an enjoyable event my missus even comes with me, the only motorsport she ever sees live. I haven't decided on stages yet, probably Serridge if the weather is good and just hang and watch all the cars go through while the missus keeps the teas coming Cheers Ian |

Got to agree about Andy Burton's Pugeot Cosworth amazing to watch and hear coming through the forest, here's a couple of him from last years Mutiny Rally. Both taken with the 10D and 70-200 f2.8L

Ian
I nearly beat andy in a race once in worcester at the indoor go cart track we were there on a friends stag night, Isay nearly cos that guy is quick in whatever he drives, I actually drove through a stage last year ,signed on a mate was in charge marshalling a section so we get all details etc . also we always go to a unlisted stage near trellech, only 200m to walk into its usually after chepstow park. spectators not encouraged but good local info & all that. 2 more motor sport, goodwood revival this time, you canot fail to like these cars just wonderful in my mind. enjoy |
