If there becomes a Nikon-on-the.net forum, I call dibs on my username. I don't want some other schmo stealing my identity.

Good idea matey ... can I bag the Kieth R username as a change?

I'm neither a Canon nor Nikon user at this stage, but am always looking across the various fences to see what's greener. This forum is great for Canon info, but the Nikon ones are crap. If a new Nikon here one can become what this Canon resource has, I for one will be glad.

I support your ideas!. It will minimize the "fight" between Canon and Nikon users.

If it could be done, here is how I would do it.
1. All usernames and passwords are common between the two systems. Sign up for one and you have access to both.
2. The POTN book (if it continues) would include photos from both sites and the shop would be common to both.
3. The archive (of everything except equipment) at the time of the split would be on both sites.
4. Otherwise both sites are independant of each other.

Or
Only Canon users can get into the Canon equipment section and only Nikon users can get access to the Nikon equipment section, but otherwise everyone can access everything. If you want access to both then a moderator has to approve the access. If this second one was done, then some strict moderator action preventing cross equipment posting would have to be enforced.

The first suggestion allows for completely different look and feel (including adverts if needed), while the second keeps the look and feel, while minimizing the troll wars between systems.

Just some thoughts.

I am still some what mixed on if it is a good idea or not.

Nikon/Fuji.

I noticed that the members and the quality of information on POTN are different from the Nikon forums.

I think that one of the reasons is the the level of moderation on POTN.

So, I think POTN would create the best Nikon forum in a short time.

Agree ... and most forums are perfectly polite when it comes to gear. It's only a minority here and elsewhere who equate brand with their manhood ... and I think we all know what that's really about :lol:

Title Fairy. The elusive entity that bestows custom titles on Forum Members. Usually it simply involves the TF listening to the member's words and repeating them. So be forewarned. The TF is out there.

Ask Sam (S. Horton a few posts above) whether Fairies exist. He's been spanked by one! [and he liked it - or so I'm told]
