Default Amadis 9/18/08 Higher Ground Burlington, VT

A bit of a different shoot for me. I was asked to shoot this show by the band. Looking at some other metal photographers here, I decided to use my flash to do some fill on some of the shots. Mike Gordon's current light guy ended up doing the lights that night so lighting was a bit Phish meets Judas Priest.

As always, and especially because this is an genre that I haven't photographed before, comments and critique is encouraged. Let me have it!

Good use of fill flash.

Doesn't look too much Metal IMO, but that's more the look of the band then the images. (sorta "classic rock" feel.)

Fun set with great use of a little flash! I love it when groups get all costumy!

I checked these out a few days ago... I liked these then, and I like these now... That's a positive thing... Lovely colors and interesting framing and composition.

Thanks, everyone. A little story about the costuming of the lead guitarist. Higher Ground has two rooms, the main room and the lounge. Amadis was booked in the lounge. The backstage area hold the dressing rooms for both rooms and some folk darling from Boston was playing the main room. She saw Frankie and made a few comments about his outfit and chaps. Very shortly the discussion turned to hair removal in those special places that allowed one to wear chaps. Hilarious exchange.
