These are photos of a centimeter ruler with the Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro lens set at 1:1 on a Full Frame 35mm DSLR (Canon 5D), with Kenko extension tubes, Canon 2x Teleconverter, reversed 50mm f/1.4 lens and a Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x lens. Also included one with my old 10D (an aps-c sensor [1.6] DSLR) and a bellows with 50mm lens.

Photos were resized to fit on screen (no cropping was done).

DreDaze,

The pics of the ruler with a white background kind of loose it for me. The ones of the $20 bill are great.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Looking at it again, it's the white of the ruler. With the white screen it's difficult to see the framing on the higher magnifications. Maybe if the ruler was some color other than white, or had a texture.

gjl711,
The forum has a gray screen so white should show up fine, besides the ruler marks are black.

You can always look on my web page (where its been for a while now) Macro variations <-- click to seeexternal link which has a much darker background

I find this very usefull. I just started at macro and bought the 100mm.
I must confess I got a little disapointed because I was expecting a little bigger images :P

But on the other end I got suprised with the little DOF even at 1:1, so I'll have to practice alot until I feel confidence with the 1:1 DOF, after that I'll move on to extension tubes or TC or Close up filters.

This thread help me understand the effect i'll get from buying each one of them, the only thing missing is the close up filters (like the 500D). If you have one please add it :D
