Hi all,

I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on a 22" beauty dish and would like to see your one light beauty dish shots.

I don't care what kind of strobes your using, or if you're using Speedlights of small flash. I want to see the quality of light from the beauty dish on men, women and children, both in the studio and outdoors.

If you have shots with a reflector as a fill source then that will also do but my primary interest is in seeing One Light Beauty Dish shots.

Hello Robert,
Here's a few, these are all with the Elinchrom Mini-soft white, using the silver reflector.

From memory the first, the Mini-soft is the Key with reflector only for fill
The next two are with small soft-box for key and Mini-soft for fill
The fourth is Mini-soft only as key
The fifth is Mini-soft only as key, the reflector was badly placed and had little effect
The sixth is the basic set-up for the fifth shot.

Hope these are of some use.

demonstrates if used very close to the lens axis, background shadow - even with the subject close to the background, can be virtually eliminated.
Not a great image, just a demo / experiment.

I'm going to do it Kesler. I really do want to do it and I'm getting more work that will benefit from the look and ease of setup.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the links. I'm loving what I see and think this is going to really add a new dimension to my studio and location lighting.

AB1600 :)

AB800 is pretty useless outdoors, during mid day.

Really? I have shot with one and also a B400 outdoors and they looked great. Guess it just depends on what you are trying to do.

With a beauty dish, or straight up? I've done hard light with an 800 during a day, but any modifiers made it, in the words of M, pretty useless.

This space for rent.

You shoot mid day? Since when? LOL

Mid day sun requires at least an F8/F9 @ 250sec for proper exposure. Lets not talk about desert sun, you'll be flying fighter jets :)

I guess you can get away with a direct AB800 with a reflector and a grid. Slap on a softbox and there goes your light.

Have any pics from your findings?? I'd love to see them, and I'm sure all of us would also.

This is with just one Genesis 200. No modifiers at midday (around 2pm) I could have made it even brighter in PP but wanted the more saturated look. ISO 100 shutter 250 and f/10

Hey Randy,

I'm going to get the Speedotron 22" dish with the Kacey grid and bag.
