what to shoot? am a bit burned out

what to shoot, i mostly am limited to do things at home at night, so table top stuff or so would be best.

I think tonight I am going to shoot colored pushpins stuck on a black (and later on a white) board

but would like to get some more ideas of whats fun to shoot when you stuck home at night.

dont really always have time to do things like i did last with the chilis etc.

IMO, i say take a lil break. Put down the camera, enjoy the splendors of life without having to worry about photographing them.

I haven shot anything artistically in over 3 months. Sure I have my reasons, school schedule doesnt permit much social life or time. My thoughts are usually focused on the next assignment etc etc.

But even then, Im starting to get the urge to shoot again, and have since booked a few shoots.

Now if its just a simple fact of you being stuck inside due to weather or other priorities you can try what I did in a similar situation.

Make a scene outta gummy bears..lol. Mine happened to be a 300 style gummie bear fight.

I would look around your home and find anything that looks pretty, unique and unusual, or just plain interesting to you and then try to capture that and emphsize what it is that captured your attention.

Someone told me that a photographer should be able to walk within thirty feet and always find something of interest. I've tried it and it doesn't work quite that well for me, but unless you live in a cave, there should always be something interesting around you.

yeah well.....its my only hobby and with my job's work hours dont get many friends left, so its my only thing to do (after off course the wife and the kiddos, but they are on bed almost when i get home....so)

anyway gummy bears, cutlery and wine bottles that should be something quite nice yes, pls keep ideas coming im just a bit out of simple ideas that are easy to do timewise

Ideas around the house? How about book (or stick) matches; candles; lamps; antiques; furniture; old souvenirs; shoes and other clothing; children; pets; insects; hobby pieces; jigsaw puzzles; glassware and silverware; books; magazines. You name it.

BTW, how did you make those nice frames? Can I make them in PS Elements, or do I need a more expensive version?

hi N/a i use aperture on my mac and have a free plugin called borderfx which does my frames for me.

Hey Mac,some great work on your site. Why not when leaving the restaurant at night unpack your camera and show us a bit of Hong Kong after dark. Don't even go out of your way,just something convenient but a little interesting for you to shoot,you know to most of us Hong Kong is a place exotic and largely unknown. I 'd love to see some of your night time Hong Kong stuff. Best of luck and I'm a ripe amateur cook(65 yrs. old) but love food. Take care Steve B.

I liked the PIN photo...would have liked to see it a bit larger though. But from what I did see, it is very crisp, clear and simple. Exposure looks perfect and the slight reflections on the white board really hit the spot. Keep going my friend!

Love those shots of Hong Kong. And wow, is that a playground? It is so beautiful, compared to the ones we have here in the San Francisco Bay Area.
