Outside the city . I say "interested in...." those because I don't do them regularly, or have equipment for them yet. I've done some of it up north, or in Newfoundland.

Makes sense. I never seem to see much wildlife even when I'm outside the city. Guess I don't get out quite far enough.

That would make for an interesting group photo outing - though, we might not all make it back, some of those raccoons are still genuinely wild. I wouldn't put it past them to steal some of our cameras as well, they've snuck into my place several times.

I had a look at your flickr, you have some really awesome stuff on there - great mix of styles and subjects. And what's this about not seeing much wildlife - you've documented a fearsome hermit crab!

Raccoon photo outing? Sounds like fun, I wouldn't have to go to far. We could leave out a garbage bin in my driveway and BBQ in the backyard and by 10pm (in summer) will have a whole family of em rummaging and making a mess!

Thanks! Not only are those hermit crabs fearsome, they're squirmy little guys. You'd think living in Belize would make them want to spend some time sunbathing to humor the novice photographer and her new 100mm macro lens.

That sounds like a good way to spend the evening! Bonus points to anyone getting a picture of a raccoon which has a stolen camera in hand? Er... paw.

I like to shoot anything. Just when I think I can narrow it down I try some other type and enjoy it. I suppose I tend to do nature, landscapes and trains mostly though.

Would an evening on the weekend work for people? Either this weekend or next?

...repeat from my first post, but I mostly do concerts and pics of my cat. And travel, when I travel. I did some studio-type stuff via a course at the AGO that was different and interesting, I'd like to chance to do more controlled-environment stuff like that. But I'm keen to try more different types of photography.

as for a meet-up, I'm game. some nights are good, some aren't, no hard fast rules.

Mostly landscapes and portraits for me... I also like shooting live shows when I get the chance provided I can get up close
I know it wasn't directed at me, but Tommy Thompson park is an awesome place for birding. I grabbed this shot there.

I'd love to check that out - lived in Toronto my whole life, never been to the Leslie Spit.

Not in Winter, though. Not that brave.

Excellent shot! I haven't noticed any owls there myself, I'll have to start paying more attention!

I went with a seasoned birder - he was able to spot and locate EVERYTHING, it was crazy. We also saw a barred owl and a great horned, but not the snowy we were looking for.

It's always amazing how shooting a style for a long time changes the way you see; I can spot insects all over the place now! Good thing I'm not particularly squeamish.

Wow, Perry that's a great shot. Thanks for posting it. Like chromewaves, I've lived here for (most) of my life and I've never been there either.

That's very true... I was amazed the first time I went diving how the divemaster was constantly pointing things out that I would have completely missed otherwise.
