I'm on there too. One thing I'd like to add is that any comments on there should be taken with a grain of salt. It isn't the site that sets any standard for modeling and it won't make you rich. It's good for some information and ideas for shoots as well as networking. But POTN is much better for constructive criticism, the attitudes are minimal or non-existant and the atmosphere of POTN is near perfect. In the 2 years or so I've been on here I've yet to see the tension and rudeness that's apparent in 75% of the posts on there.

Glad to be here!

haha, no lie. If you show boobs, or softporn they think your work is priceless. It's a pretty decent place to find someone too shoot. Even if they aren't all that professional. Some people complain about a lot of flakes, but I've never had anyone setup an appt and flake. But I'm very selective...

Yes, I agree. It's nothing like POTN and I don't think it could ever hope to be. But, it is a decent place to find local talent to help expand the portfolio etc. In the short time I've been on there I've found myself declining more shoots than I've accepted. No biggie, I have pictures in my head that I want to transfer to media so picking the right model and look is paramount.

Jon.

Yep.
MM is packed with lots of attitude. I posted once in the forums there and will never do it again. It is a good place to network and hire models. Although I have been getting more flakes than usual.

I'm over there as well, though my work isn't as good as I've seen here. I'll get better or die trying. LOL #327669

not a very constructive place when it comes to feedback, and I have only had two models show up to a shoot all the rest were flakes. I think MM models have more grandparents die than any other group of people on the planet.

I've had a lot of offers to shoot from models on there. But it's as if they are serious for a few minutes and I rarely hear from them again. I get more business from Myspace and referrals.

Yeah, that happens all the time. After a while, you start to get a sense of who is professional and who is not.

Myspace? Never had any luck there. Must have been doing something wrong!

lol, i think you guys just aren't screening the models enough. I've only had 1 flake, but it wasn't last minute. But I'm only willing to shoot the ones that have professional looking shots. The girls that are half naked with crappy photography work are the ones you have to watch out for. lol.

I think people sign up expecting it to be the end-all for free models. When in fact it is kinda more like "bottom barrel". I have not had any flake on me and am happy with the ones I have worked with. But MM is not like an agency. Nobody is accountable to anybody, and reporting bad experiences can get you banned. So you have to take it for what it is... simply a social networking site that happens to be centered arround the modeling industry.

It is also the last place I would go for advice or C&C. If you read through the forums, it is mostly Photo 50.5 questions. (As apposed to Photo 101) Sure there are some good questions there. But 90% of them I would not expect from people "working in the industry".
