Default Need some help

Can anyone point me to a thread or site that has a list that shows which Aperture and Shutter speed that will produce similar exposure results, such as when in the Manul mode. I may not be stating this properly but here is an example:

1/60 at f/4 is the same as say 1/100 at f5.6 and so on

Hope its not too confusing.

Thanks

It's a reciprocal relationship. One stop represents halving or doubling the shutter speed, or increasing or decreasing the f/ stop by a factor of 1.4. If you move one stop for one of the two, move it one stop for the other in the opposite direction.

To keep things simple, say that for your scene, a shutter speed of 1/250th at f/8 gives you the right exposure.

If you halve the shutter speed and go to 1/500th, you have reduced the amount of light entering the camera by one stop. To get the same exposure, open the aperture one stop to f/5.6.

If you double the shutter time to 1/125th, now you are overexposing by one stop. To get the same exposure, stop down the aperture to f/11.

If you have your 50D set to 1/3 stop increments, in manual mode, one stop is three clicks of the wheel. If you change the shutter speed by three clicks, change the aperture by three clicks.
