Default Thor's Helmet (NGC 2359)

This was only 4 frames I shot before shutting down the last night out. It was still low in the sky but not bad for only 16 minutes worth. I'd like to get a couple hours worth on this one at 800mm with the Vixen Newt. Tons of stars though so not an easy process. TAK Sky 90 II / Losmandy G-11 / Canon 20D (unmod) / ISO 1600

Thanks Rick. A little drift visible at high mag, could have used a little more bias weight to the east. I hope I can get some time this winter to make a more serious attempt.

Thanks Ron, the magic of dark skies.

This should be a good one to try over the winter since it sits east of Sirius(roughly).

Tough subject for sure!

Great job especially for only 4 subs.

What is this "dark skies" of which you speak?

Blimey, is this a less than perfect image posted by Nighthound?! Still excellent, and better than I could do with several hours of exposure. Looking forward to you really attacking this one...it's a new one on me.

Thanks guys. To me they're all less than perfect, that's why I keep going back for more.

What surprised me is how rich a star field this is. It's going to be tough to tame those stars at over 2 hours.

Thanks Dusty. Some luck with weather and autoguiding and I might be able to get some detail with the Vixen.
