Handheld at 300mm?? Wow! Not bad. But I would recommend a good tripod if you want to improve. Use the tripod, remote shutter release, and mirror lockup, then you'll be on the right track and probably getting some pretty darn good results. Good luck!

Hey all,
I have a tripod and a stick, I just haven't gotten comfortable with them yet, and I am still trying to learn how to adjust all the settings on the camera. Gary W.

Does it really make that much difference doing handheld if you're shooting at 1/1250th of a second? Surely that speed is going to eliminate any camera-shake.
Did you photoshop the image at all Gary? I like it, but it looks like "something" has been done to it. Looks like a slightly soft image that's been over-sharpened perhaps.

Hey all,
I did play with the brightness and contrast settings a little bit with Microsoft Office Picture Manager. The photo was taken and saved to jpeg instead of raw because, like the settings on my camera, I am still learning how to use picture editing software that came on the computer or with the camera. There's no such thing as too much stability. Overkill at high shutter speed? Maybe but I've never had a photo suffer from using a tripod.
