Default Flash issues Black pictures Help!

Ok,

Just recently purchased my first External flash. i HAVE A 430EX II and just recently i started taking some photos and almost every 3 and even sometimes up to 7 in a row the photos would come out black even when the flash would fire. Why is this happening. Is there something i have set wrong?

thanks,

Michille

Are you waiting for the flash to recycle between shots?

The lightning bolt icon in your viewfinder comes on when the flash is ready.

If you use NiMh rechargeable batteries, your flash will recycle faster.

Also, try using a little higher ISO like 400 or even 800. This will require less output from the flash (recycle faster) and also let some of the ambient background lighting into the exposure.
