Flash and natural background lighting
This may be a stupid question, but I am new to using flashes. When I take a photo with a flash, to make use of the available background light what settings should I use?
My idea is to expose without a flash in manual and then use the flash with those settings. Is that a good way to do it or will I get better results doing something else?

Re: Flash and natural background lighting
Your idea is correct. Just watch your shutter speed that you don't exceed the max sync of the camera and make sure your EX flash is in ETTL mode.
