Default [Help] - Macbook Ram up to 3.0Gb (Late 2006 Version)

Hi guys,

this is just a quick question regarding a late 2006 macbook. According to different websites, the late 2006 version of the macbook (when they introduced C2D in the macbook), can take a maximum ram of 2.0Gb that is supported by apple. Now the maximum ram it can take is 3.0Gb, i was just wondering if i can just slot in 1 1gb ddr2-667 and a 1 2gb ddr-667. I know i can, but i dont know why i am doubting it. LOL

I know that ddr2 sodimms need to be in pairs, i just dont think it would be beneficial to put in two 2gb so that it would match. its a 15 dollar difference. i just want to save money for small upgrade on a late 2006 macbook (and its not mine, its a friend's).

Thanks
-Marlon

The Core 2 Duos can take 1+2 for 3 gb, or 2+2 for about 3.2 gb of availiable RAM. The advantaged of matched pairs is the preservation of dual-channel performance, which gives about a 5% benefit to integrated graphics.

Wow Tony-S to the rescue YET AGAIN! freaking awesome!

Thanks! i didnt know about the 5% gain. 5% is negligible for a laptop thats not mine. LOL... She doesn't really even need 3GB of ram, i just told her to upgrade it to 3Gb so that she no longer needs an upgrade in the future.

I'll probably boost her hard drive in the future. These macs can run for a long time... (Fanboy Time: I love my mac! ITS BULLETPROOF, FIREPROOF! EVERYTHING PROOF! ITS AWESOMMEEEE!!! I'M IN LOVE.... ITS SENT FROM GOD! BLAH BLAH BLAH! HAHAHHA. that was fun) . I'm still running my 40D raw files on my Core Duo Macbook in CS4, and i dont think i need an upgrade until 2010 or 2011. Let me get my lenses first. HAHA
