Exchange Square in Hong Kong

Four pictures taken the other night at Exchange Square in Central, Hong Kong. It's called Exchange Square because that's where the stock exchange is.

thanks for all the interesting pictures Don

this being the equivalent of wall street its really nice to see , and now I've seen both, even if exchange square is only in pictures for now
I like to see these places and try and make sure if I am visiting a city, that I get to see what the famous political or financial places of importance to the particular country I am in
what they actually look like 'for real'

The first time I saw wall street, there were beautiful massive gold bows painted all along the centre of the street, leading all the way up to the 'money market ' ,
It reminded me of the song > tie a yellow ribbon........
(great song )

The monument in the first picture seems to show a body with a very small head
( I doubt it is to blatantly signify more 'brawn then brains' : )))
Maybe I am wrong , as its hard to judge what was in someones mind when a design like it is made, expressing something to do with where they are intended for eventually
The arms look spread out, like an institution protecting one's money ? : )
but , as there seems to be only one thumb on one of the 'arms' I guess that idea could be knocked on the head
The photo of the 'round tower' buildings is terrific
how you got the line straight up the middle and also the lighted windows in one building reflected in the other is real nice
In the third photo the reflections in the glass windows of the trees outside on the street , is very nice too.

In last photo, the fountain at the end of the corridor through the main door , seems the same fountain which shows the monument ( in the first picture )
and I was trying to see was that the same monument way down there
but dont think so, as it seems a much brighter area

Hi Marie,

The sculpture in the first picture is in front of The Forum, which is adjacent to the Exchange Square Towers, so it's not directly related... just part of the same open, outdoor space.

To me it is a martial artist practicing his kata, or formalized dances. I have a yukata, a Japanese houserobe, I bought in a Tokyo flea market that has similar roomy sleeves. I think the thumb you see poking out is a hand (maybe a fist, so be nice).

The greenery in the third picture is a in the stainless steel band of the plants inside the atrium.

You have very sharp eyes to see our samurai in the last picture. You can see him a little better by going to this link...
