My 10D locks up whenever I try something like this.

I took this photo with my 10D and a 28-135mm lens (I think). I first set the lens at a short focal length, then quickly pressed the shutter button AND zoomed to a higher focal length. I didn't shake the camera, and I gotta tell you I have incredibly steady hands, because this was taken at a very low shutter speed to allow time for zooming while the picture is being recorded, and IS was on (hence the incredibly steady hands!).
This was taken in a public garage, with my coffee cup on top of my car's dashboard. The "fire" is actually one of the garage lights that looks this way after zooming.
No PS special effects at all.

Yeah, zooming gives a neat effect. I do this somewhat regularly.

Yeah, I see now how that was a zoom shot. You must have cropped it to eliminate most of the converging lines.

No crop. Actually other than changing the resolution, this image is untouched.

I never thought of doing this untill I saw this post, had to try it. I think it's not to bad for my first try and a good 30 seconds of hard work
300d, 18-55 "kit" lens, 0"3 exposure, handheld. This is straight out of the camera, no editing at all.
