Default I Am Taking Up Knitting

You thought I was kidding about the cloudy days here didn't you? These first two shots are after 9am, where anywhere else that is not in the butt crack of the world, it would be nice and sunny. Not here. The streetlights are still on. Check the time stamp. Worse, I hit a gold mine of eagles today and had to shoot at ISO 800. This sux.

Nice Eagle shots given your lousy conditions Mitch. Why don't you become a winter Texan like so many others do down my way? It is rare for us to get a cloudy day (just rubbing it in).

i know exactly what you mean. it's raining here and just plain ole drab and dreary day here. nice eagle shot though. how much of a crop were they any way? and they don't look bad at iso 800

Thanks Miles and Bill. That first one is almost full frame, the others are maybe 40% crops. But there is no color, makes me fill like I'm shooting in Siberia. If I went to Texas Miles, the weather would probably follow me.

Hey, at least you have eagles to shoot. It is foggy and cloudy here every day and nothing more than geese and cattle egrets to shoot

Bill, I didn't use any ec on these. I did have to do more than normal PP though, setting white balance in RAW, then levels, noise reduction and sharpening.

Maureen, yes, we have eagles. But when there is nothing you can do to make them look good, it hardly matters. It's just very frustrating to have them to shoot, then to have to post these kinds of shots as the best you can do with them.

as Maureen said - at least you had eagles.
Today I had nice sunshine - and about a million house finches. Nothing else. Nada.
Blah.

I want both. Is that too much to ask?

I mean, look at him, even the eagle is disgusted with the weather.

Now you know how the people living in Washington State feels (I lived there for 3 months...nice but I like sunshine).

Despite the cloudy weather...these are pretty darn good Mitch. Really like the first in-flight.

Thanks Shirley. Worse, I am one of those people that get grumpy as the days get shorter.

Duane, I worked at St Hellens for most of 1982. I had to leave cause I was growing moss on the north side of my body. That place is almost as bad as here.

It's in the mid 30's today and raining too, but supposed to go to 7 above as a low tonight, then back in the deep freeze. There are more eagles here than a couple days ago too. Now, if the clouds would just freeze up and break apart everything would be good.

Good shots under the conditions Mitch, I have had to resort to ISO1600 this last week, its clear and sunny today, but with a temp of -35c I dont think I will venture out.

Thanks Jack. I have to keep shooting them, but it sure would be nice to get some decent light just once in awhile.

The sun?? What's that? Where I am If its not cloudy, its windy. If its not windy, its cloudy. Most of the time its both. The amazing thing about these conditions is you still manage to get great shots.
