I know the debate over LCD protection, clear film vs. nothing over the LCD.
However, being of Greek and Albanian ancestry, the film does a better with oils from the nose and face. Has anyone tried either one of these with the clarity being the main issue. I have the Boxwave on my XTi and the Invisible Shield on my 40D. I know the LCD is not the best on the 40D as they kept the same as XTi. Just thought I would ask.

I like to use those hard screen protectors, I find them clearer and easier to put on and take off. It sure takes the fear out of scratching the LCD (yes, I know that it is already a LCD protector and can be replaced easily) with any cloth handy at the time.

Which one is clearer? The boxwave? I used invisible shield on my Ipod a long time ago and it had a orange peel look. I have used other brands on my Ipod and they look much nicer.

I don't understand the logic of protecting the protector?

I have an invisible shield on both my pro cameras, 5D Mark II and 1D Mark III, that cover all screens on each camera. I do a lot of adventure/travel photography so anything I can do to help keep my camera in good shape I will. I feel the invisible shield is perfectly clear as it gives me no issues. I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to have a little extra protection.
I don't understand why you wouldn't protect an LCD (even if it is the screen cover). You telling me it isnt worth 20 bucks to get an LCD cover that would take the brunt of hard scratch rather then scratching the "protector" and then having to send it in to replace it? Can't me out on that. I am in rugged terrain all the time so that extra layer gives me a piece of mind. They are on my ipod and iphone as well so maybe I am biased...

That's just it - you don't have to send your camera in to replace the Canon LCD cover. You can do it yourself, easily. About as easily as replacing the "protector protector" in fact.

I use an antiglare one just to cut down on glare, not for the protection actually.

Not when I gather Canons own cover costs less and is very simple to replace without sending the camera off on an extended holiday. |
