Default Jason Cole DVD Info?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. I've seen lots of references to Jason's DVDs. I've also seen Jason's work posted here and his work is excellent. I have some questions about the DVDs. Are these geared toward the pros that have a studio to shoot in? Do you need to have loads of lighting equipment? I view myself as an advanced amateur. I've posted some photos on this site. My equipment is 2 Alien Bees, a Canon 580ex ii a background. Would this be a worth while investment for me or would I find myself wanting to run out and buying lots of new equipment and buying a studio. Any info is greatly appreciated.

I believe it might be moved to the G&N 'talk' section, but, I guess that's something that the people who own(ed) it can attest to. I was curious, as well...

Jasons DVD will make an ideal purchase. The information it contains will be ideal with the equipment you already own (although Jason tends not to use "studio backgrounds")

Go on, order it, you know you want to!

TJ, I've seen these testimonials but I'm not sure what level these guys are at. It appears that some of them are pros. Ijust want to make sure that I can put to use the knowledge i will gain.

I think this DVD will help people of all levels. Its basically general advice and tips on lighting, posing, settings etc which I think everyone would find useful.

I've watched it several times and found several areas of advice thats helped me.

If you have no or little experience doing glam, I would recommend the DVDs. If you've been shooting for a while, you may find the info a bit redundant but it is interesting to see his shooting workflow. The DVDs are extremely well done.

I was worried about the exact same thing when I bought the DVD. I only had 2 Alien Bees and was unsure as to how beneficial the DVD would be for me. I went on a limb and bought it because I appreciate mostly all of Jason's work. And it was a great decisions. He makes every thing so simple and easy to understand. If you consider yourself an advanced amateur you will have no problems understanding the terms and techniques he uses. Most of his shoots from the DVD are done with one strobe, and some of them with 2 strobes. There are a couple with three, but you could easily replicate that with your 2 strobes and 580ex. I do not own a background and most if not all of the shooting I do is on location, so a lack of studio won't be the problem.

Edit: Agree with what Dave stated above...and now that I have the chance because I have not been approved for the glam section yet, his work never ceases to amaze me.

I own this DVD and consider it a very good investment. Jason's manner of discussing his photography is not at all "School Master" yet highly informative.

A sidenote: My wife watched this with me one day, and now understands my predisposition to shooting fashion / glamour in preference to say landscapes.
A Major win if ever there was one.

I just purchased Jason's DVD and found it entertaining and informative. His manor of putting the DVD together made me feel as I was part of the crew. Glamor and portrait photography is the one area I've stayed away from until now. This DVD has helped me in areas I was unsure of and I can't wait to try things out. You also get an insight into Jason and crew and appreciate his photos even more. I'm glad I made the purchase.
