I'm going over New Years!!!! I'm so excited since I've seen such beautiful pictures from AZ here. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of where I should go. Thanks so much for your help!

Oh Boy, how much time do you have? Grand Canyon South Rim (NOrth Rim is closed), Sedona, Page area, Monument Valley, Tuscon area, incl. the Desert Botanical Garden there, Saguaro National Park, Kits Peak, Petrified Forest NP - seriously you can spend months in AZ.
If I were you I'd either pick the Page area and all the surrounding places, or stick to the Grand Canyon, incl. Sedona. |

Where will you be staying and how long will you be out here?

Thanks for the replies everyone! We are driving out there from Illinois the day after Christmas. So I estimate we'll actually be in Arizona from 12/28 until 1/2. My husband has family in Phoenix that we are going to stop by and see for a short time, but I'm not sure if we are going to be staying in that area. I'm so bad at planning things in advance...

I'd head north of Phoenix. About 2 hours away is Sedona, absolutely beautiful small city surrounded by towering red rocks.
Another couple hours north are both the Grand Canyon and a little further/different direction is Page which has quite a bunch of photogenic areas nearby. |
