Smile The Boot . . .

I stopped and took a few of these today. They have been calling me to come over and 'shoot' them for a few weeks now. I think they make interesting photography subjects, but I don't like them in a way. You see some 'folks' from the "West Coast" somewhere near LA, moved up here and they think this is a western tradition, or something. I don't know what to do with right/left coast cowboys, lol.

Anyway they plan to buy and wear out enough of these boots to put them clear round their city ranch.

Strokes for folks . . . I will just have to get use to them.

It's a nice shot, Rod. They sure don't look like working boots, so how do they get worn out? Looks like they also wore spurs(?).

I saw a small ranch near Coloma in Northern California that had boots and shoes on the posts lined up all around the property:

Well thanks guys . . . I thought it an odd thing, but perhaps from where they are from, it is as thomascanty notes, something that is done. Might start a new trend out here, lol. I got a few pair I need to toss, perhaps, just perhaps . . .

Man I almost missed this one. Great shot RJ. being in the surveying field I can't tell you what I've seen on fence posts or stuck on trees. I've known surveyors who have tacked thier jacket to a tree, because it was on it's last leg and it was what they always wore when surveying. Go figure

Those whom get to spend time in the out of doors find many such strange practices around the country. I think them cute quirks of mankind . . . what else can one say of them.

Hell, those boots are far from being worn out. Looks like there are at least a couple of more years of good in them.
Different image. I like it.

LOL, Ian . . . them there are 'Girl' boots. I am sure they are victims of fashion and not of wear.
