Default Hockey-Shooting through the glass-examples-tips

Here are some shots that I shot through the glass in Pittsburg during game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals. I used a 70-200 with a cheap rubber hood and had decent results. You really never know where you will get a position, so clean the glass if you can, get a rubber lenses hood and for youth games bring a small step ladder or crate to stand on. You will be happy with your results after experimenting with several techniques. You will still see shadows and some glare but it will be better than no shot at all.

Nice work Tom. Yes those rubber hoods sometimes come in handy --- I bought mine to use when shooting Piston games.

Nice work Turrill! Pretty sharp and clear from the finals. Hopefully you'll be there in June again!

Why do you suggest a rubber lens hood? I'm going to be using a 70-200 for sports, but I was just going to use the included plastic one.

I suspect so that you can get a good seal against the glass and eliminate any glare or reflection from things behind you such as open doors, pop machines, arena lobby lighting etc.

Ooooh. It all makes sense now

I haven't shot a hockey game before, and I just plain wasn't thinking.
