I bought a 30d in 2010 then needed a second body so I bought a excellant used 40D.The odometer had 3700 on her. Now I have a 7D. But I really like my 40d, if only I could figure out why my buttons dont operate like they use to!!

Sounds like the previous owner changed some custom settings, most probably in C.Fn IV. Have you checked those?
