Hello, I am having trouble uploading video from my camera to Windows Movie Maker.
I already have video files saved to my computer but when I try to upload them into Movie Maker this message appears: C:\Documents and Settings\Candice\My Documents\My Videos\IMxLibrary\CANON\20081228\Explorer Jake.mpg could not be imported. An interface has too many methods to fire events from If anyone could help me that would be great. thanks -Tmx222 |

A quick google gave
http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net/Fo...spx?PostID=923 http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-655726.php or perhaps rather than use Microsh*t, get one of the many low cost 'real' tools for the job e.g. power director , that's what I use with my FS100 |

The FS100 records it files in a format with the suffix '.mod' on the end doesn't it? It's an MPEG format with this .mod thing over the top. Not many bits of software support it as a native file to import, so that'd be my guess. The software that came with the camera should allow you to hack it up though, so pretty much anything will read it.

i had an old panasonic sd video camera that recorded mpeg2 video with a .mod extension name on the files... i was able to rename the extension to .mpg, and it worked great in any video editing program.

Interesting. Worth a go on any of these cameras, but I wouldn't rely on it, if it works, fantastic! This problem is, best as I can see, applicable to any standard definition SD or HDD video camera on the market currently, as they all record like this. Also very similar problem (can't import footage natively into editing programs) with all of the current HD ones I've seen on sale, as they all record AVCHD with either '.mts' or '.mts2' (Sony) suffixes.
Worth noting iMovie08 and the latest Final Cut for Mac users, and latest Ulead (not great), Pinnacle Studio 12 (top two levels) and Adobe Premiere Elements 7, and Premiere CS4 will all read these files straight off.
