Default New and Looking: how to get video to dvd?

Hi all, I'm obviously new here and my goals are simple. Learn how to get my video to dvd and equipment needed to do so. Any help would be appreciated.

On the Mac that would be iphoto for pictures and slideshows and imovie for video.

On the PC with XP you should consider Pinnacle System software

On the PC with Vista I guess you could try windows dvd maker.

List your equipment that you have or are considering purchasing.
