My 1st pictures with SLR. Kids portraits.

I finally got an SLR for xmas this year! Yay me! (Well actually I opened it 2 weeks ago.) Here are some pictures I took of kids in the family and my coworker's daughter. I have so many favorites since they're such cute kids but here are a couple.

I like the idea behind #5 but it needs to be straightened out in PS. The crookedness throws me off when looking at. I really like #6 and #8. Which camera did you get? What lense were you using for these? They are all entertaining photos. Thanks for sharing them.

haha Thanks! I got a 40D and only have one lens a 50mm f/1.4.

I hope I can get wider angle lens soon because I had to go to the other room to get a group photo. hehe

Great job for your first shots with your new camera! Keep up the good work. I agree with the above poster in saying that i would straighten up the chair.

#7 is my favorite one. Very original, warm colors, sharpness on the kid's face, true smile.

Lauren, I realize I have the same photo equipment (40D, 50 f/1.4), I would also like a wider angle (I'm saving money for a 17-55 f/2.8), but I would also like to make photos as good as yours

Did you post-processed them? (#1 and #7 in particular)

Awww......lol They are all post processed with a bump in saturation and sharpness. I'm debating the 24-70 2.8 or 17-40 4L at almost half the cost.
