Grace Potter & The Nocturnals 12/31/08 Higher Ground

This was the final night of a 3 night stand at Higher Ground. As is tradition with the band, they use a movie to set the theme for New Years Eve. This year, The Royal Tenenbaums was the movie and the stage set reflected that. When they came out for the second set each band member was made up to be a character in the movie.

Scott Tournet - Chas Tenenbaum (Ben Stiller)

Bryan Dondero - Raleigh St. Clair (Bill Murray)

Absolutely a fun night to finish off the run.

8. This final shot was the final encore of the evening when the band invited up family, friends and crew...all in costume...to sing Hey Jude. Great way to end the night.

great job on this one. i think these are better than the previous two nights. all of them are stand outs. that blue one worked out very well.

also that's funny they ended with hey jude.......so did susan and derek

That is funny! Who knows, maybe Grace and Derek worked it out backstage after she guested with him this past summer in VT.

Yeah, I like the blue one. I have at least 10 four-on-one kit shots from that night with all sorts of different lighting, but that one is unique.

Thanks. # 2 was shot with the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS although for many of the others I used the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS L. I usually use two bodies with those two lenses in smaller venues like Higher Ground.

Must have been a real *fun* show... The Royal Tenenbaums is a hilarious movie... It's the type of humor portrayed, that isn't surprising from St. Lawrence U. students... Actor Kirk Douglas, attended SLU.

It was a real fun show. It was uncanny on how well each of the band members mimiced their respective characters.

Grace, while being a self-professed "glamor girl" is deep down a real VT woman. I'm not sure if the coat was fake but if it wasn't I would not be at all surprised if Grace made it from scratch.

There is a long line of suitors, Dwight. Considering that the drummer pounds those skins very hard and Grace and he are a couple, I would be wary of getting too close.
