Question distance from subject for a given focal length???

Hi,

I've had a search of the threads but can't find what I'm after!?!?!

I will be attempting some head and upper body prtrait shots for work tomorrow and was wondering if there was a guide as to what focal lengths worked at what distances from the subject for a given length of portrait that I could take down as a ready reconner.

I don't shoot many protraits and so don't have a natural feel for subject distance in these situations. I know that most recomend to stick around the 100mm (equivalent) focal length mark but how far from your subject would this mean you needed to be?

I will be shooting natural light as our office has huge windows and using reflectors to balance out shadows and have lens options from 10-300mm on a 400D if any of this gives extra info that is of use.

A link to a reference page or a quick guide for the popular focal lengths (50,75,105) for head, 3/4 and full length shots would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance

T

No one ever answered this question? I have the same question. If there's no response here, then maybe the answer doesn't exist?
