Hi All,
Just wondering if its ok to use other battery brands instead of Canon NB-4L battery. Will it cause any damage to the Ixus? If so, does it have to be 760mAh (li-ion) or it can be 740mAh or 780mAh? Cheers and God Bless!! |

Sure. I use Sterlingtek batteries in my EOS cameras and my wife's SD600 all the time. All the mAh rating means is the one with the biggest number ought to last longer per charge.

hey Jon,
Thanks for the reply. So any brand is actually ok rite? or is there a recommended one beside the one you are using? Canon batt pack is expensive. So i am just trying to get a cheaper one which has 900mAh to it so it will last longer. Does that sounds ok? Cheers! |

Sterlingtek are good. I wouldn't buy, say, off eBay though. Check the Sterlingtek prices, even with shipping. Other brands, I don't generally know about. My old Rayovacs are dying a bit faster than the same age Canon ones.

Hey Jon,
Ok i will definitely chk out sterlingtek. The ones i see are from ebay and are very cheap. Altogether about AUS$15 and lesser. I saw those 900-1000mAh. Do you think its advisable? i just want a longer lasting battery. All those cheap ones usually they die faster right? using them do not have any effect or whatsoever on the camera rite? Cheers! |

Cheap ones may not have all the protective circuitry built in to prevent overheating or overcharging problems, which could damage your camera. That's a primary danger with them.

Stick with recommended brands, is about it. Can't help you with brands in Singapore, I'm afraid.
