A parent just purchased $300 worth of pictures from my SmugMug. Whew! just enough profit to cover for another year's Pro Account subscription to SmugMug and keep my site afloat...

Now that's one healthy first sale! Congrats =)
I've been thinking I should probably start offering print sales to parents when I shoot ice hockey.. usually the only stuff they get is from this crap company that comes in and shoots with the 70-300mm f/4-5.6 lenses, and does corrections in picasa or something really fast, during the tournament games. Nobody shoots during the regular season.. |

Good sale and always nice to have the internet stuff paid off early in the year.
Hefty sale there to, which is good. I still remember having financial "difficulty" one year talking with a parent who said she and her family was in the same boat. She then ordered $700+ worth of images. I realized we had different definitions of DIFFICULTY! But she paid off my EM account for a couple years, and not happened since. Chris, make sure there's no exclusive or anything and set up if you can. Don't want to deal with a company who, no matter how bad, has an exclusive that is being violated.

I had a similar thing happen last night. I got a single order that more than covers my web expenses for the year! Yippee! Although Zenfolio Pro is not the expensive anyway.
Now if I could just get an order that would cover that new 400 f2.8 lens I will be set!

Covering the account subscription fee is just a relief. The real joy would be to be able to cover the rest of my photography gear -- retroactively!!

I think what would really help pay for mine would be selling concert prints for the local groups I've covered in addition to the sports stuff, but I haven't quite figured out legalities for that... so for now, I'll settle with sports.
Hopefully for you it's a year full of big sales. |

Thank you. I'm doing this just as a hobby so these sales are more a source of pride than income. As far as income goes, I hope it all goes more for those whose full time job is photography. So good luck everyone and hope for the best in 2009!!
