Default Help on Printing Photos on Canon S900

Hi,

I have Canon G2 and recently got printer Canon S900. I am getting very good pictures on G2 but when I try to print, the quality of printouts are not good. I tried different paper quality and different options.

So looking for some tips to good quality printing and use of colors of printers.

Hi

Have you ever tried to use Easy-PhotoPrint utility from Canon? It is really good.

Regards

BJ,
This is my first post here so here goes. I use a Canon S900 and S9000 and my girlfriend has a G2. Are you shooting the images at high resolution? Shooting at low res and printing them results in bad images so now she shoots at the highest quality Jpeg setting and I print out A4's on the S900 and they look great. I use a D1x and looking at A4's from it and the G2 (printed on the S900), I have to say the G2 prints do not dissapoint at all. If the images look okay on-screen then your choice of editing program isn't to blame, but a low res image that looks fine on-screen will not look as good on paper.

Hi,

I am taking photos at hightest resolution but still quality is not satisfactory. Also I tried using different papers and quality varies a lot. Presently I will stick to Canon Paper Pro. Images look good on screen but when printed on 4 x 6 paers still I see grains and also border on different objects don't look fine.
Thanks,
BJ

Double check printer settings, also "clean" the print head - an option from driver's "maintenance" tab. If that doesn't help, make sure the lever that is on top of the ink cartridges is in the right possition - photo paper is the thin one, so it should be on the left (it is on my S520). As the paper goes, I use Photo Pro for big prints (8x10) and Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy for 4x6's - it's cheaper than the pro and the results are good for snapshots. If you're using any image editing programs like PhotoShop or the like, make sure your monitor is properly callibrated for gamma, Adobe Gamma is very far off - use this instead:

Best of luck.

PS If the problem with the printer persists, get a replacement head from Canon - that might solve the problem.

BJ,
The S900 is in my opinion the best photo printer around, using PR101 paper you should be getting photos better than lab stuff just like me. If not, go to the printer properties box, click custom and slide the quality slider all the way to the right. Also remember to select "photo paper pro" as the media type before hitting the print button. If your original image file is as good as you say and you have checked all the above, then you just have to getsuper prints. If not, then your printer may be faulty.
