Hi everyone,
I've just joined the forum. I love the internet. There is a forum for just about everything. I have a problem with my charger or battery. I went to take a photo of my dogs last night and I couldn't turn on the camera. I couldn't turn it on in shoot mode or play mode. There was no power whatsoever. I plugged the AC adapter in and was able to take a few photos and review what was on the card. BUT, I couldn't get the battery to charge. Usually I will see an amber light that blinks at different speeds to tell you how full the charge is and it will turn green when it's done. Well, no light ever came on. I opened and closed the battery door and took the battery out to make sure it was seated properly but no luck. Does anyone know what might be the problem and how to fix it? Thanks, Sean |

Does anyone know what might be the problem and how to fix it? Be sure and turn the power switch to OFF when charging the battery. The battery won't charge if the camera is in "shoot" or "playback" modes. |

you probably charged it too often. all batteries lose there charging capability if you dont drain them enough.

I have only charged it, maybe, 10 times.
And when I charge I always make sure that the camera is set to the "OFF" position. Any other thoughts? Could I have blown a fuse that controls the charging? Sean |

Have you got the latest version of firmware loaded into your G2? If not then it maybe worthwhile to load it on. It can be found here:
http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/PSG2/...irmware-e.html Also make sure the CF door is properly closed as well as it will stop any charging process if it is open. |

Probably the CF door not closed.... that little door has caused me all sorts of grief thinking something was wrong with my camera. I dont know why Canon couldn't put a CF card detector instead of a door open/closed detector on the camera. Guess they didn't want you to take a picture and pull the card out during mid-write.

Thanks everyone. I'll test the CF door again and try the firmware update. I'll let y'all know tonight.
I may also try a different battery. Can anyone suggest one that is better than any other? I guess I could search for one too hugh? Sean |
