Thank you for all the details, please ease my ignorance, is the speedlight inside the soft box or outside, if it is inside will it still trigger thru the infra red?

I don't know what china design is that but you will definitely need radio frequency to get that setup working. I'd stick with a cheap softbox on ebay. Got mine for $50 i think?
I have been wanting to "upgrade" all my strobe gear to alien or some other rf setup but then I would need SO much more gear to haul, batteries to charge, equipment to malfunction.... then I calm myself down and realize that if I lose a shot or two because of infra red technology, then I will gain much less back pain and wallet stress The portability of speedlights outweigh all the negatives imho

China design?! Thats the way the wescott softboxes are built, some of the softest light you can get from a speedlight. Thats what Phamster uses. |

Phamster,
Whatever gave you the impression I'm an engineer? I'm just a dumb photographer. Thanks for reading. Your picture is much nicer than mine. Too bad I didn't have a model like yours. Thanks for reading the blog.
