Default Sigma 24mm f1.8 EX DG MACRO

I didn't see a post for this lens. I did a search and looked at all the pages. Sorry if there is one and I missed it but I swear I looked up and down this forum for one and failed to find it.

Anyway, just came in the mail and first impressions are fantastic! Using with 5dmkII. Yes, the AF isn't as fast but it's not a problem. Was looking for a fast wide angle macro and it's perfect.

Switching between AF and manual isn't a big deal either. I hear people complain about that, but seriously, it's nothing. I'm more irritated that it's hard to get the lens cap on and off with the lens hood on.

Will probably use without the hood. I don't use filters so I think lens cap trumps hood for me.

Bring on the samples!

shot at f1.8 first image is iso 100, the others are iso 400. This thing could get really close. I'm at work so I can't really take images of anything all that interesting but I love the depth with this lens.

Someone just brought in Sake. It's only Monday! haha.

I like this lens, but I'm not a fan of its clutch focus ring.

does this lens work on the canon XTi and the full frame canon's? heard there were issues with having to "rechip" the lens to work with some cameras....??

Works with 50D. Thus should on XTi. Even the focus microadjustment was possible. I have the understanding that earlier the AF focus was problematic to calibrate. There are technical changes and the newer versions work fine. Unfortunaly I do not have the serial numberm, from which on it works.

this lens is excellent - works well with my XTi, and I really dont mind the AF b/c it is pretty fast, albeit noisy... and oh, you can focus like 2 or 3 inches away from a subject! will post pics when i get the chance
