My fiancee and I took a trip up to Savannah, GA, in January just to play tourists for a while. While there we took a guided tour of Bonaventure Cemetery (Shannon Scott is quite the storyteller - http://www.bonaventurecemetery.com/)

Some experiments in B&W:

And one of my experiments in incomplete color desaturation:

All with a T3i, 15-85mm, with a CPL.

C&C welcome, especially regarding the B&W and desaturation - suggestions on whether the contrast looks good, too much or too little desaturation, and so on.

That's a nice shot, M_Six! Silhouettes can be such an effective image.

Is that local to where you are in Illinois? The flat terrain and big skies certainly look the part. (I lived for a short spell in Champaign/Urbana.)

Thanks. Yes, it's by a church near Pesotum, just south of Champaign.

This reminds me of The Masque of the Red Death, E.A.Poe.

Great Thread! I have been wanting to photograph places like this but I never have the time.

Here is an old one from Monticello. I used a p.o.s. oops make that a p&s camera I had at the time. Hope this isn't a repeat.

I look forward to see all of the post in this thread.
