Default Baghdad

This is taken at the Al Faw palace in Iraq last summer. As always, I'm interested in feedback.

Thanks,

Longer shadows would have made this a much different shot. I'm sure time was of a premium. Glad to see you made it home.

Unfortunatly I never got much time during the afternoon to take pictures. I was working 18 hr days and my hours off were during the middle of the night. I was able to get this shot only because we evacuated my office due to a mortar strike

Are you allowed photographing stuff being in the military but not being a photographer?

Nice pictures

Sure, very few regulations against it. Only instances were it wouldn't be advised would be force protection issues - showing a capability that would give an advantage to the enemy.

Interesting...Here in Korea they still have very strict regulations with regards to what you can photograph at the Demiliterized Zone...they don't want to give away their forward positions...understandable in any event.

Yeah, they get nuts sometimes in Korea. Even when I was down in Osan, they frowned against pictures in the bars. I think they were worried about blackmail though!

I think with all the imbedded journalist, there isn't an inch of the green zone that hasn't been photographed.

Its the international area of occupation in and around Baghdad. These pics are from the area called Camp Victory and around Sadaam's Presidental palace. Apparently, this is where Uday had his man-eating lions at, before we moved them to the Baghdad Zoo.

I'm sure glad I didn't get voluntold for that duty.

Nice picture. I would have liked it more if you could have gotten the one person out of it but it's pretty good. Thanks for sharing it.

And thanks for the service.

Wish I had taken more photos during my deployments. Unfortunately, none of my snapshots are remotely worthy of posting here. Nice shots, BTW!
Did you take your 20D to the sandbox? If you did, you're a brave soul!!!
