Hi all,
I have my G1 for just a few months now, but since yesterday I am no longer able to recharge it. (And the battery is completely empty.) When I connect it to the power supply, the orange light does not light up; the connection seems to be ok, however, since I'm able to use the G1 while connected to the power cord. In the G1 FAQ http://www.botzilla.com/photo/g1faq.html#batt I read that removing the battery and putting it back in should solve the problem, but it didn't. Does anyone have any other advice? Thanks in advance, Michael. |

Although I'm sure you've done this, just in case you haven't, try gently cleaning the battery contacts with a pencil eraser. If that doesn't work, it seems likely that either the battery has died (is shorted out or open) or you have a problem with the charging circuit. Unless you have another battery or an external charger, either of which costs about $50, I can't think how you can determine whether the problem is the battery or the camera charging circuit without sending the camera in.

Here's a related question.
The charging light doesn't come on when connecting the charger with no memory card in. Is it actually charging? Have looked in the manual but can't see any mention of this - have I missed something? |

Seems I recall reading in a review somewhere that
it will not charge with the CF missing or mabe just the CF door being open. Woody :P |

Hi, and thanks for your replies.
Problem is: The CF card is inserted and the CF compartment doort is closed. The battery is not charged - I left the camera connected to the power supply for about 5 hours, but when I unplugged it, it did not power up. So I figure that charging simply does not work. But I'll try cleaning the electrical contacts. Somewhere else I read that removing the backup battery (which is hidden somewhere in the battery compartment) might help at times; anyone ever tried this? Bye, Michael. |

In the old version of the firmware, 1.0.0.0, if you drained the battery all the way, the battery would not charge in the camera. To fix, you had to remove the battery, and then re-insert, and charge.
This is fixed as of 1.0.0.1. Mike |

Hi,
I have firmware 1.0.0.1, but still had problems. The only we I could get my camera to recharge has been the following: - remove battery - remove the small button battery inside the camera - put both batteries back in And then, charging works again! |

Have you tried replacing the button battery?

I really think that it should be ok. If this happens to me again, then I'll try replacing it. |
