Default New Ni*on DSLRs - End Of April

This is in DPREVIEW today:

http://www.dpreview.com/news/0504/05...nikondslrs.asp

It is from Ni*on UK, and it says the successor to the D70 is scheduled for the end of April. It also says they 'will be introducing' an entry-level DSLR. No firm dates, just 'information will follow'.

If Ni*on has the successor to the D70 out by the end of this month it will be a first, and who knows when you will be able to buy a new model that hasn't even been officially introduced yet. Their track record doesn't support it. . .

Have Fun,

Do they mean that the D70 is not an entry-level? How low can an entry-level be

I think they are talking about the 'D50' that was leaked a week or so ago.

Well, the D70 folks need to think they are special. With something below them they will be able to brag now.

Have Fun,

This is speculative on Friday, April 8, but I just saw on another thread that the 20D will have a $100 rebate starting April 15 here in the states. If that is true it could (could, mind you) mark a new low in Ni*on marketing. Prior to Christmas 2003 they announced the D70 and didn't have it on the shelves until sometime after January. Are they now announcing new products around Canon rebates?

Curious. . .

Have Fun,

I think the marketing people at Canon are cruel. They should introduce that rebate after Nik*n introduce the new camera.... heck, give 'em at least a week to enjoy

This reminds me of something somebody said in passing. Something like Nikon is becoming the same as Panasonic, and Casio. Now that's crule, and somewhat sad.
