I like these. I'd heard somewhere that they outlawed fox hunting in GB.. (or were they just talking about it?).. but I didn't know how closely Canada followed GB policies.

Do you have any more shots out in the fields?? "Fox Hound" is a breed all it's own, isn't it?? ... or do they cross breed? (I don't know much about the fox hounds). It's just that some of them look 'beagle'ish.

Hi Playm, Certain forms of Foxhunting were Banned in the UK but it is still allowed through some loopholes which i'm not going to go in to here, here in Canada we hunt coyotes instead of foxes, there are so few foxes and they cause little problems, unlike there UK cousins, the farmer s are happy for us to catch the few we do , but more importantly us hunting them stops them from becoming too concentrated in one area and becoming a problem to cattle and sheep farmers, the hounds we have are a mix of American and English foxhounds, but we do have some of both that are purebred.
these shots are of the Keswick hounds in VA that make an annual pilgrimage to the Rolling Rock hunt in PA, the hounds that you can see are pure Bywater American hounds

Thanks for the extra photos. It looks cold. LOL. Do you have many problems with barbed wire fences? I think this is interesting.. though I wonder how they have to deal with the differences re how the farms, land, fencing, etc are set up in VA vs GB of CN. ... however, that being said, I imagine they check out the areas before they go charging around the countryside, eh?

Very cool and English looking, the dogs in the third image look like they are behind glass

all our farmer are well informed of where we are about to hunt, they are called the day before and at the beginning of the season are sent a meet card, which informs the farmer of where our intention to commence a hunt at a certain area and date, we also hold a big Steak dinner for our farmers (which number almost 500 !!! ) as regards to the barbed wire fences we have a program where if we get stuck behind a wire fence we get permission from the farmer to put a jump over the wire ( we call them coops ) so that we can cross the land easily

Love these! Looks like Cecil Aldins paintings come to life. What lens did you use for these?

Hi Whippeticious, thanks for nice comments, you obviously know your artists well, wish i had an ounce of his talent, both in artistic ability and photographic ability, wasn't sure how these pics would go down, hunting can be quite a contentious subject!
i used my 70-200 2.8L for this shot, i have some more if anyone would like to see them.
I guess by your user name that you have whippets, we have one, and a whole bunch of smaller whippet type lurchers,I sometimes think i have more dogs in the house than in the kennels !!!! LOL
