Photoshop CS not recognizing XT raw files

Has anyone had this problem? I went back to my retailer and he tried my card on his laptop and the RAW files wouldn't open. Put my card in a 300d and took a picture. That image would open on his computer and mine. Put my card in another 350D, took a picture and it still wouldn't open in PS CS. His conclusion was that either Adobe or Canon hadn't linked the 350D with Photoshop CS yet. Any ideas? I'll check the Adobe site but I haven't come across anyone complaining about this. Is it just me? Thanks.

I have read (and expierienced) that the 350D/XT raw files are different slightly from previous Canon raw, and as such dont allow them to be viewed/work with Adobe yet.

Adobe says they'll release an update/plugin in May to support the XT's CR2 files.

The caveat with the new plugin for Rebel XT and a few other cameras is that it is a beta release and will be supported ONLY by CS2 and PS Elements 3. If you have other versions it won't work. The folks at Adobe know about profits also.

They are pushing the Digital negative idea -- about which I know nothing.

The latest version of RawShooter supports the 350D, i'd suggest using that in the meantime. It's free.

Well, I really do love how I could open raw files with CS, do what i want with them, and just keep editing in Photoshop. Just one big step and no annoying other steps ya know?

I've opened my friend's raw files (on the 300D so it does work with CS) and being able to do this in photoshop is so nifty.

What's the difference between the Rawshooters trial version and the version you buy? And is it even worth getting if you already have the software that came with the camera?

Interesting that the RAW files have different file designations.

.CR2 for the 20D
.CRW for the Digital Rebel 300D D30 D60 and EOS 10D
.TIF for the EOS 1D and 1Ds.

I just downloaded the free Camera Raw 2.4 plug-in for Mac versions. I can't see why they won't put out a new plug-in that will handle the 350D file version if it's different.

BTW I have Photoshop CS or 8

Edit..I believe your files on the 350D will be .CR2 and so this Camera Raw Plug-in 2.4 from Adobe should do the trick if you're using CS (or Photoshop 8)

My 350D's RAW extensions are .CR2

Are you saying you can open .CR2 files in PS? Maybe I can get that plugin and my raw files will also work?

I'm going to try right now.

Another board group was discussing this and they've yet to conclude it will work for the 350D but the files are indeed .CR2 on both the 20D and the 350D and Adobe states that it supports the 20D with the new plug-in.

Below is a free RAW program you might check out. A 350D owner said it was better than Adobe's, so at least it's a work-around as is the EOS Viewer Utility, which you have to access with a card reader. EOS Viewer Utility will not download RAW files straight from the camera.

You can believe what you want, but the guy who writes the ACR for Adobe says it won't.
He also says the beta version of ACR 3.01 will work only with CS2 and PSE 3.
I am of the opinion if anyone knows, it would be him.
Adobe has forums that discuss this at length. You might try there for more information.

Damn...

Doesn't work. It tells me it's "not the right kind of document." Somehow I saw that coming from a mile away.
