Well. I've now acquired my 1st Canon - 7D + 15-85mm + 70-300 Tamron.

Still getting to know/understand it but hope I can get even slightly close to the images posted here.

Read the manual three times then don't try everything at once, just play with a few settings and increase as you go along. In the end you find you set it up and leave it

A pro told me years ago that he used only 10% of his cameras capabilities. I reckon I use waaaaay less than that!

Manual? That piece of badly written junk? I've no time for more than a brief look, all it does is confuse me.

My method is simply to play with the camera.

I sit down at home and follow any new features in the manual with the camera, I find this lodges the info in the old brain better than just reading.

As an engineer this is probably atypical, engineer's saying is:

if all else fails read the manual

I have to admit, I have not ventured into the manual at all.

I am, however, working my way through David Busch's Canon EOS 7D book. I'm about 160 pages in so far.

In the meantime, here's one of my first attempts...

Good capture, shame about the half shadow, the sun can be so darn inconsiderate at times

Ken, 4mb/s? Is that all?

I would have a real issue with that. As for 239kb/s, that's just unbearable. At least BT have you sorted now.

That looks like it was a nice way to spend a few hours Alex.

At last i have got a reasonable speed broadband back so have been able to upload my Jubilee flypast shots from the other week. Now perhaps I might have some time to take a few shots, just bought a new Macro lens that I'm waiting to arrive.
