The shot of my older son was just while we were out hiking. He decided to sit down and pout for no reason.
Our youngest son, he just had his bath and was looking really cute after I put him down on our bed while I was starting to get him dressed. Any comments/critiques/pointers greatly appeciated. (I just started shooting SLR 6 weeks ago) First shot: Rebel XSi, 100-400L, f/5.6, ISO 100 shot at 100mm Second shot: Rebel XSi, 50mm/1.8, ISO 100, shot at f2.0 Thanks in advance!

great photos, great job for just getting your slr. your kids are adorable. Since you asked for CC here's mine:
1. exposure on the background is great, but he looks a tad underexposed, given that you were probably shooting in full sun you did a great job. Perhaps crop down some of the right side so he is not so centered. I'm guessing he was on a hill?? if not then straighten out the photo a tad. 2. Again he is dead center so maybe next time try to get a more interesting composition. He also seems slanted a tad (see the background red/white) you could straighten that a tad. The picture could also use a boost in colors play with curves a little (did you use onboard flash?). I can't really tell at this size, but he looks a tad soft, not out of focus just a little soft so just practice more with your 50mm! Great start and adorable kids!!

Cute kiddos!
I agree with Rachel on the c&C. #1 he's underexposed and dead center of the composition. #2 Dead center. I would adjust levels it also looks a bit underexposed. I wish the red went all the way up behind him instead of seeing the wall.
